I'm a Ph.D. candidate in musicology from FSU. My research interests include community musics, retirement-age musicking, brass bands, and critical race theory. My dissertation focuses on the brass bands that participate in Mobile, Alabama's Carnival, the oldest celebration in what is now the United States.
